In September, the NWMO played a big role in the Canadian Nuclear Society’s (CNS) Conference on Nuclear Waste Management, Decommissioning and Environmental Restoration. The event took place in Ottawa, Ontario.
In addition to sponsoring the event, more than 20 of our specialists presented technical papers and participated in panel discussions about various topics related to Canada’s plan for the safe, long-term management of used nuclear fuel. We also invited representatives from municipal, First Nation and Métis communities engaged in the site selection process to attend as a learning opportunity.
The CNS hosts this conference every four years. The theme of this year’s conference was Collaborative Solutions for Current and Future Needs.
