A gala event was held at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium on May 3, 2023, to celebrate the Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards. The annual event recognizes the outstanding contributions of Chamber members, and the Nuclear Waste Management Organization has sponsored this event for several years.

Joanne Jacyk, Site Director, Ignace, presented the award for New Business Excellence to Lakehead Beer Company. Also nominated were Intrinsic Fitness & Lifestyle and Dawson General Store.

“It was a great pleasure to be able to present this award to Lakehead Beer Company on what has been a very successful first year in business,” Joanne said. “I want to congratulate the other nominees in this category, as well as all of the other businesses who were honoured tonight.” Charla Robinson is the President of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce, and she appreciated expressed appreciation for the long relationship her organization has had with the NWMO.

“There are many thriving businesses in Thunder Bay, with more coming every year, and holding events such as these is a great way to shine a spotlight on some of the business leaders in our community,” Charla said. “I would like to thank the NWMO for once again sponsoring the Business Excellence Awards.”
