Acknowledging Indigenous contributions
Overview
The communities and organizations we are recognizing with this program do not necessarily support the project. They were open to sharing their views, and helped identify questions and concerns that need to be part of the conversation as the plan moves forward. They are not required in any way to continue their engagement in the process.
How the Program Works
Communities that participated in Phase 1 of Preliminary Assessments are eligible to receive $250,000. Contributions of $150,000 are available to organizations that were similarly involved.
The funding could be used for scholarships or community well-being programs that support youth, elders and community sustainability.
Each community and organization must create a reserve fund (or similar mechanism) to manage the funding.
