The communities of Blind River and Elliot Lake initiated their area's involvement in the site selection process by formally expressing interest in learning about the project in 2012. The neighbouring communities of The North Shore and Spanish also expressed interest at that time.
Brockton
The community of Brockton entered the site selection process by formally expressing interest in learning about the project in 2012. Central Huron

Saugeen Ojibway Nation-South Bruce Area
The Municipality of South Bruce first initiated the area’s involvement in the site selection process in 2012 by formally expressing interest in learning about the project to safely manage used nuclear fuel for the long term. After more than a decade of engagement with South Bruce residents and members of Saugeen Ojibway Nation, the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation-Ignace area was selected in 2024.Saugeen Shores
