The Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO) and Municipality of South Bruce recently held an open house at the municipal office in Teeswater to report back to the community on what we heard during the values and principles workshops.
A series of workshops were held in South Bruce to discuss the values and principles that will set the groundwork for more detailed discussions about the project. The draft principles that emerged from the workshops included safety, environment, trust and transparency, communication, inclusive and collaborative, community betterment, and regional involvement.
Community members were invited to provide comments by April 13, after which the project team will complete a summary report to be shared with the South Bruce Council and the community. Once confirmed by the community, the values and principles will set the groundwork for more detailed discussions moving forward.
The open house also featured material on safety, transportation, and project economics, and a display on the multiple-barrier system.
